Home Management
Topic: Wise Money Management
Time: 30 minutes

Age Range: 19-40
All students obtained either grade one or two in the CSEC Home Economics and the Sciences
Learning Styles: 25% auditory, 25 % visual, 50% kinaesthetic learners, 25% visual spatial learners
State Objectives
1. After viewing the digital storytelling on the importance of wise money management, students will discuss the benefits of planning their money wisely.
Here is a list of all media, materials and methods to be utilized in the lesson.

1 Smart board
Microsoft PowerPoint
Internet Access
Home Economics: Norma Maynard and Rita Dyer
Utilize Media, Materials and Methods
· Smart board will be used to present PowerPoint presentation
· Content will be uploaded to computer attached to Smart board
· Internet access and textbook will be used for research
· Student will use computers to create their budget with the aid of Microsoft Excel
Require Learner Participation
Introduction (5 minutes)
Students will view Digital Story Telling on the importance of money management which will be used to introduce the lesson. After viewing, students will discuss the benefits of wise money management.
Activity (15 minutes)
Students will view a PowerPoint presentation on wise money management. Students will be placed in groups to participate in a supermarket authentic activity in which they will demonstrate how to spend money wisely.
Production (10 minutes)
In pairs students will create a budget using Microsoft excel. Teacher will be on hand to deal with any technical difficulties.
Evaluate and Revise
Student Performance
Students will be assessed on how well the interacted with their partners in creating their budgets. The teacher will supervise students as they complete the authentic activity.
Media Effectiveness
· Were the PowerPoint and video presentations useful in promoting class discussions?
· Did they prove useful for the various learners in the class?
· Were the tasks manageable?
Instructor Evaluation
· Did the lesson run efficiently?
· Was it well-planned?
· Did the students respond well to the lesson?
· Were the learning objectives achieved?
· Could the lesson be adjusted in the future?
