As I reflect on the course Educational Technology and my strengths and weaknesses related to it, revealed how much I have grown as an individual. The course has proved to be a rough yet smooth road to understanding the importance of technology in my perspective. It has helped me to overcome my fear of using technology in a classroom setting. At first I was hesitant but I quickly became more patient thus developing a love for technological integration. Throughout the extent of the course I have grasped many new concepts which I am proud to say that I can now confidently use in my future endeavors. The possibilities of now successfully using technological tools are endless. I think that my strength in this course was that I was comfortable with the computer. I believe that the class was rather organized as all the class assignments were posted and listed in great detail. Some of the assignments included creating a website or blog which included a Web Quest, Podcast, Philosophy and an Assure model lesson plan. It was also a course requirement to participate in online discussions about various technological integration topics with my classmates.
One of the problems I first encountered was not being able to get an immediate answer when I was having difficulty with something. The course fostered discovery learning to an extent; although the lecturer was physically present she did not provide all the instructions. This problem greatly improved however as I further learned to dig deeper and investigate for my own answers. Some of the time my learning took place on my own and then at other times with the class. In fact, I noticed that all of the elements that are crucial in accomplishing work-related goals are also present in this learning environment, namely collaboration which was necessary at certain points. I also learned to rely on my learning community. In the beginning of the semester there was an adjustment period, but as the semester progressed, I learned to be less dependent on the instructor and more dependent on myself. In closing I think this was a good learning experience.
